USB Port

Featured Replies

2018 Octavia. I'm trying to connect my phone to the USB port to use Android Auto. Should a normal USB cable fit in the port under the heater controls? I think the actual USB port insert is pushed too far back behind the housing...

Looks like this.

Doesn't look right, is there a better close up to see into the port?

A normal USB cable should be fine, you don't need a special one.

Thought so. The port is pushed too far back in the housing isn't it?

Yes, definitely come unclipped. Take it to the dealer to get it put right.

As above, you have warranty so book it in for it to be sorted.

Thanks for the advice. It is booked in now having tried to remove the trim and locate the port properly. Not worth causing damage.

Yes, if it’s in warranty, might as well leave it to the professionals, plus, any issues resulting from their repair will have to be sorted by them.

That being said, @SashaGrace has removed the trim on her 03, albeit a pre-FL model, here:

Yes, you can do it yourself with no tools if you’re really good. Ideally though, you should take the radio screen out and that gives you the space to pull the climate panel out and then you can pull the USB trim down. The USB socket will be clipped in top and bottom, if you’re lucky it’ll just have slipped back but the clips are pretty strong. If the clips have broken, you’ll want the dealer to be the first one to take it apart for warranty and all that :)
