Featured Replies

hello, I lost the ignition key of my car skoda octavia 2018, I called a technician to create a new key but without success and after he decided to go with the immobilizer to work in his loboratory, and after when it came to install it the lamp of immo turns on and gets off

?

Also "?".

Needs a bit more clarity, please, if this is a genuine question.

As it is a new car you should have two keys/fobs. Find the other

If you have truly lost both (in sea or river) then you are best going through the dealers for replacements and be prepared to pay a heavy replacement cost.

If the keys have been stolen then you should look at getting the car professionally moved to a secure place until alternate coded replacements have been created and locks changed, all really expensive but you should be able to claim on the insurance. It will not be a quick job

Good luck.

I got three with mine.

I've only got three from other makes where they provided two remote control fobs and also a Master key with no remote control but presumably with an imbedded transponder.

Back in 2014 Skoda (Australia) only provided standard two remote fobs with folding ignition key with the then new Mk3. Same with the mk2 bought six years earlier.

Is three the new norm now? OR are yours kessy?

Three keys (with personalisation) seems to be the norm on the facelifts I’ve looked at, doesn’t need KESSY, I forget if it’s the same way right down to the lower trims, for sure it is on SE L.

This sounds like a proper dodgy query from OP...

No Kessy just three folding keys each with a leather fob and one presentation box.

Not possible from Auto Locksmiths to do Lost Key situations on the MQB platform yet. Spare key programming has just been made possible recently, but in lost key situation you will still need to go to the dealer to have keys ordered.

IMMO OFF, which is what OP may be referring to, may be possible, especially if Diesel, but I haven't come across that possibility yet on MQB. And its possible that with IMMO OFF you will be left with immo light on or flashing on dash.

Usually people with newer cars would not be interested in Immo Off as it reduces the security of the vehicle dramatically, its more something done of vehicles that don't have much value left in them compared to cost of key, or if new key is not possible for some reason.  And getting someone to do an IMMO OFF would probably not save much money compared to getting a new key.

So bottom line is, if you have lost keys on car, contact dealer and order new one, other options are not possible or viable for MQB cars yet.

I think the fact that the OP has vanished without trace suggests this thread is a bit ‘iffy’!

Yeah, might be I am just a suspicious ******, but...

It sounded like OP was sitting on either a stolen car and trying to get it going or planing to steal one and seeing how hard would it be to defeat the immobilizer.

His silence speaks millions and this is a very strange query, specially the way it was "explained'.

So (hypothetically speaking of course) he's tried to code a key to the nicked cars and been defeated by the immobilisers, then asks how to get round it?

Fodgy ducker...:punch:

I have lots of sympathy for people who get easily confused and fall victim to scammers, but then again I have this weird sense of sympathy for some scammers who are...  well not very good at scamming - the above being a perfect example.

Re: three keys. Didn't realise all/most cars came with three keys. Memory seats have three individual settings so I just assumed it was part of the electric seat option - one for each driver.
