accelerating and not much deal happens

Hi folks!

I drive now, for like 7 months, a Superb 2.0TDI - 190 Hp with DSG.

From time to time, when I start from standstill and engine is cold, feels like revving up quite slow....

I experienced this now for 2-3 times, last time this evening. Every time it was colder outside (-3... -5 Celsius), after leaving with the car while engine was cold and I tried to push the throttle a little bit.

It goes like... in first gear is revving up slowly, after changes in 2 gear all is fine and goes like a rocket (as rocket as this engine can be...  ).

Has anyone some experience with something similar?

No warning lights are on, or something like that....

It is not the delay of the throttle response... thats something else.

It is not traction control kicking in...

Thank you.

Diesels are like that, they have to rely on the glowplugs to keep them going when cold

Mine is also a bit more sluggish during the current cold snap in the UK. Don’t think it is anything to worry about. I tend to take it easy until everything is up to operating temperature anyway.

No they don't. the glowplugs are only to assist starting and on modern diesels its got to be pretty cold before they are really necessary. They certainly do not operate when you are driving, if they did the glow plug light would be on.

Realized this also today, -16degrees here in Finland this morning and the 190hp diesel was very sluggish before it warmed up. I had the external heater running for about 30mins but that did not warm it up enough. This isnt a huge problem though, im just kicking the throttle harder until its warm enough :)

Usually I am taking it slow when it is cold...  from time to time I go crazy... :)

I remembered that a few years ago I have read a material witch was saying something similar. A conclusion was that it may be DSG clutch that is slipping. Can this be possible?... especially when is cold and oil in the gearbox is cold? I imagine that can be something related to pressure building into the gearbox.... I don`t know, I am no specialist.

I dont think so, mine doesn´t sound like the clutch would be slipping and revs and gear changes seem normal. Just a lack of power, like the 2.0 190hp has turned to a 1.6liter version and you need to really kick it to make it move :)

yeah, same feeling I have.

"The latest diesel car engines are equipped with the innovative three-phase glow technology (pre-heating — heating during starting — post-heating). This means: the glow plug not only heats prior to and during the starting phase, but also up to 180 seconds after starting. This protects the environment and the engine. "

Wow, 3 minutes, I would hardly get off the drive in that time. No benefit on the road at all.
