Cruise Control issue

Recommended Posts

Hi! i can't get my cruise control to work. It will not engage when in speed. Nothing happens. I have tried the following to get it to work:

- Checked the stalk in Live Data and it checks out and in getting feedback from OBD11. No clutch engaged or brake.

- Tried putting in the activate code in Engine Module. Did a Throttle Body Alignment in OBD.

- Removed the microchip on the stalk and cleaned it.

- Checked all the fuses.

I have no idea where to continue from here.

Thanks in advance!

I take it the engage switch on the top of the stalk works?

Yes, I get different outputs on all three switch mode off, middle and on.

Are you looking at the cruise control switch on the left or the windscreen wiper switch on the right. The windscreen wiper has 3 settings for little, big and bigger drops. The cruise control on the left switches on and off - no 3 positions. At the end of the stork you can set the speed and increase and decrease.

Yes tried everything. Moving the stalk in different positions and in giving feedback from it. On, off and cancel. Its just that it will not apply it to the engine. You can see in the images that im getting feedback but it will not apply that to specified speed.

Edit: Also bought a new clutch pedal switch but no difference.

Do you have any DTC stored in STG 01? Cruise control will not work when fault codes are present. Other than that the brake and clutch pedal will disable the CC.

No DTCs stored in any module all except for the Parking Assistance.

- What im thinking since I bought the car used is that the J500 steering angle sensor have been replaced and should really have been a G85 since I cant access the *16 steering column module.

Can you share the VIN/Chassis number, so I can see what was factory fitted, please? I think G85 was only used on cars with ESP, at the time yours was built.

I believe on cars without G85, the correct module address for PAS is 44, steering assist. Maybe even for cars with G85.

That VIN does show a normal rack-mounted steering angle sensor, but wiring info suggests it should have a G85 sensor as well. I don't currently know where that is normally found in the parts catalogue, to check whether you VIN says it should be there or not.

Hmm, So if I would have replaced the slip ring and stalk to another one with G85, wonder if it would work then or if it would be non compatible?

- Noticed another thing when checking the speed on each individual tire there was a difference in speed about 2 km/h on left right tire, thinking if this could interfere somehow?

Ah, you've just led me to where the G85 is, shown as item 2 here, current part number for your VIN is 6Q0 959 654C.

Frightening price new from Skoda: £225 + Tax here in UK.

Are the tyres exactly the same size between sides, and worn approximately the same amount? Going in a straight line?

Ohh, okey. Do you think that if I would change the slip ring I would be able to get access to Module 16 or that the cruise control might work?

- Yes the do seems to be all the same. A bit more pattern on the rear axel but otherwise the seems the same.

- I do guess that when you push the set on CC it would be telling the engine ECU to hold the speed, since the ECU is recognised the input from the CC could there be something in the Eeprom that isnt working or could there be any mechanical fault?
