My Alloy Colour?

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

Clipped a curb in the snow :( Only the very edge of the front left wheel nearest the tyre.

I am looking at repairing itself. Don't mind if it doesn't look perfect. However, no idea what colour to get or where to get it?

Any ideas?

I've attached a pic of the car (before I curbed it!).

Thank you

Why not go to your local dealer. I have always found dealer supplied touch ups cheaper than such as Halfreuds and a better match.

But yours look like diamond cuts on the surface and colour in the webs. If that is case its lacquer only on the diamond cuts bits and once its damaged no amount of paint will stop the wormholes appearing.

Ahh. Great :(

I need to leave it in soon for speakers under my warranty. I think it is scored at the very edge on the rim (nearest the tyre). I just want to limit the corroding damage.

Just smear some Waxoyl over the area to stop the salt/damp getting in temporarily. Ordinary grease will work as well.

Before I had my alloys changed (18 months later) under warranty I kerbed both nearside wheels. I simply that day cleaned them and applied copious amounts of lacquer from the touch up set. It did not show any sign of  worming in those 18 months. I regularly cleaned the wheels waiting for it to appear, thankfully it did not.

@Danny 57  What kind of touch-up kit do you have? Wouldn't mind getting one in case the worst happens.

It is the touch up colour specified for the car from the parts department. Mine came in two (brush) tubes, one that is the cars colour and one that is the lacquer.

Brilliant - thanks Danny. I'll give the dealer a call tomorrow.

I had what appeared to be a stone chip on one of the spokes my Pegasus wheels, I used the clear touch up lacquer as well, just to seal it from the elements.
