Defecting to Seat Leon...

Featured Replies

I've a quote for 2.0 TDI Reference Sport Leon which I test drove today, excellent car, just like a more refined and slightly larger Fabia vRS.

So could be defecting :o But pricing:

I'd say your car was worth a good

Yep, that trade-in value is a joke! My 53 plate car with 31k miles is worth £8500 as trade-in at a Skoda dealer. And they will give me that regardless of what I'm trading it on! This means I could trade it against a Sport, find another £500 and it's all mine :D

(I'm seriously considering that!)

that APR is cruel, Northern rock will do 5.8%, online form, rate fixed for loan term.

Yeah APR to high, part-X too low. Price for the Leon is probably not that unreasonable.

You've been ripped off with your trade in AND Finance. I would keep walking away.

Private sale for Fabia and bank loan balance.

Seat need all the help they can get! Should be grovelling to you.

Nice car BTW.Had a look at one.Nice in the flesh

What I would try,

1) Try a private sale of furby.

2) If that doesnt work, try to see how much your skoda dealer will buy it from you for cash. When I was selling my octy, they offered me more than the P/X figure from another dealer. Maybe try and get a p/ex figure against the mk2 octy with the same 2.0TDI engine. The leon and octy2 are the same underneath.

3) Once sold, get a bank loan from the bank who you bank with. I got one when I bought the Boxster for 4.9%APR from Lloyds.

I think the point is if you trade it in to a Skoda dealer, you'll get a higher price because they're going to be able to stick it on the forecourt and sell it. The Seat dealer will have a lot more trouble shifting it and it will just be taking up space where a Seat could be sitting.

As others said, try approaching a Skoda dealer for a cash exchange or sell it privately, although this will depend on how much time you are prepared to wait for someone to buy it at the price you want :D

I've always steered clear of car finance as it may restrict what you can do mod-wise to the car as it's technically owned by the finance company until the term is up. High-street banks these days seem to be offering very good rates!

Thanks for the comments above.

Well, chat with Skoda dealer for a new Fabia vRS:

12380

300 sliver metallic

275 CD

12955

8400 part ex for mine (this without any haggling)

4555 to finance.

500 quid for Xenons, 1300 quid for leather, hinted at a 100 quid discount on the two options.

I have a 6.9% APR on 9 grand loan over 30 months from the bank available (for 28 days) should I want it.

So financally the vRS, but the Leon is still a nice car, shame about the deal.

Lots to think about this weekend...

Ta for help so far!

Take your figures to SEAT, tell them you will be signing by the end of the weekend and if they want the money then they better come up with something better.

Also wouldn't bother with the CD changer, I don't think it's worth that much.
