3rd party extended warranty.

Featured Replies

Hello guys

Just thought I'd share with you a code for extended warranty at click4warranty.co.uk.

I got a 36 month 5 star policy (highest level of cover they offer) with a max £7000 per claim with £10 excess .

This cost me £80 deposit and £40 a month for 9 months.

I used the code NEWREG which gives you £125 off.

My 2012 vrs only has 30k miles but is out of warranty and as most people know it's probably a smart move to get some cover for potential costly repairs.

In comparison the Skoda one is around £307 for 12 months with no excess.

This include extra cover for turbo as well which was £11.

Cheers.

So £440 for 3 years which is good.

So i take it you need to pay to have any fault diagnosed, and that will need to be at a Skoda Dealership & then get a repair approved.

or can you go anyplace if it was the likes of an Engine or DSG that was needed?

Do you think they will pay £500 or so if a Water Pump is needed in the 3 years?

?

Do you think they knew there is a Super Charger as well as a Turbo?

From what I just read :

Water pump is on the list of covered parts under engine cooling system.

The process for claims are

Inform the warranty company first and they will give you an approved garage.( In this case they will pay the garage directly if the claim is approved). After which you book in with the garage and give them permission to fault find  . The garage then informs the warranty comany with findings and costs at which point they authorise them to go ahead with  repair at the agreed price.

Or :

You select a vat registered garage (i.e Skoda, if it isn't on their list of approved garages) follow the same process but essentially the only difference is that you pay upfront and claim the money back.

But yes from what I read , you are liable for diagnosis costs.

Mentions nothing of superchargers in the policy , but I imagine if you inform or inquire about this before a claim is made they would make a note on the policy or indeed tell you either way if you are covered or not.  I might do this myself actually.

Just be aware then you will need someplace with all the Gear & more than an idea for a Twincharger.

Diagnostic Equipment and the available software for the engine / ecu / DSG ECU.

So say your Water Pump / Supercharger Magnetic Clutch is playing up, suspected.

You are as well to go to a Skloda Main Dealership,

but they will still want £85 plus VAT or so to Diagnose because that is what they do.

Some might even say they need 2 hours to check it out.

Then there is the Work that will be approved, but that will Be the Water Pump & Magnetic Clutch, Seal and Coolant.

If you want the 2 belts changed you might have to pay for them your self. Maybe not though.

Same with a DSG issue.

Maybe just the hours diagnostic.

Just be aware, and do not allow them ever to say 'Known issues', because if there was / is, they should be the ones to know before taking your money,

they are in the Warranty / Risk Business.

Have you read the Servicing requirements & any Exclusions in the Warranty, Modifications or such?

All good advice.

Yes I've read as much as can of the policy. Servicing wise is to be within manufacturers guidelines basically and you will have to show the service booklet to the garage before approval.

Personally I think I would be happy to pay Skoda for their time if I had a good suspicion it was any of the major components you mentioned above but if it was something less serious in my opinion I would head for an independent garage. ( My dad has a garage ) which is handy for non Skoda specific activities .

Mentions also modified vehicles or vehicles fitted with equipment not  approved by manufacturers  are not covered. Quite vague but I guess it covers them for any mods ??

The policy can also be transferred at point of sale £25 fee.
