Instrument Cluster Perspex cracking

Featured Replies

I have a 2015 Fabia 1.0. After about one year, slight hairline cracks started appearing on the edges of the perspex on the instrument cluster. These increasedin size during the cold weather. At Skoda, they tell me they will have to fit a whole new instrument cluster as you cannot change the lense alone.

They say they have never experienced this. I haven't damaged the lense and it is simply deteriorating, I'm at my wits end, anyone else had this problem?

Yes the whole cluster needs replacing, the front facia is plastic welded onto the main frame. The new cluster must be coded to the car, so it's a dealer only job.

The parts can be separated, but a dealer will not be able to obtain just a replacement perspex piece as the cluster is listed as a whole on the parts system.

Is the car still under its 3 year warranty from Skoda if it is not it could only be a maximum of 3 months over. It might be worth asking Skoda if they would help towards the replacement cost or a 3 way deal between the garage, yourself and Skoda. I would approach Skoda itself if the garage you bought it from is not been very helpful. Joe    Sorry missed you started having the problem a year after you bought the car.

Welcome.

They can not experience something that might happen after 3 years until new models are 3 years old.

Then they might start experiencing having more of them in.

They are supposed to be 'Simply Clever'  but you have to wonder sometimes.

It will go from ' Never heard of that'  to 'they all do that'.

Skoda CZ will have heard of it, and now Skoda UK will, and they will have to start splashing the cash if it becomes a common issue.
