Yeti Panoramic roof won't close

Featured Replies

Hi Guys. First time on forum.

Wife nipped out in our 2010 Yeti, lovely day, roof open, got home would not close fully.

The glass tilts into place on the drivers side but not on nearside. Local garage who we deal with regularly, and are very trustworthy, have tried allsorts but to no avail.

They seem to think that some levers are distorted and another broken. When trying to close the roof they say that if the glass is lifted out to access the retaining bolts of the frame you cannot then refit the bolts with the glass back in.

Does any body have any idea on replacing some or all of the mechanism. I think if we took it to the main dealer we could be looking at a very large bill. Rumoured to be possibly four figures !!.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum Hozzer, sorry to hear you have issues with your sunroof.

I have no idea of how to help, sorry.   :wondering:

Thanks Arkaig. Will have a look.

Similar thing happened to me 2 weeks ago (with rear discs, sunroof and recently a/c issues this has not been a good month!).  Went out, opened sunroof, there was some loud noises and the left side tilted a little and the right hand side tilted a bit more then everything stopped.

It was a Saturday night so no garage options ... found in the manual the emergency close (remove glasses holder, use allen key to manually turn driver motor) that closed the right hand side but the left didn't move.  Saturday evening and Sunday was spent stripping out the headlining, then removing the panoramic roof.   At the front of the roof, on the top are 2 channels that the drive cords (looks similar to a pipe cleaner) run through.  The plastic cover on the left hand side had deformed and the cord escaped the channel and twisted into a loop and jammed.

I took the drive motor off, straightened the cord and could then manually open and close the roof by pushing/pulling the cords/roof.  Moved it to the closed position and reassembled everything.  Have now disabled the sunroof by driving the motor to fully open position then disconnecting the switch and moving it to the closed position and reconnecting.  Now if anyone tries to open the roof (from the sunroof control or global open) t doesn't work.  I did this after using global open to cool the car and having to repeat the whole task 4 days after the first time.

Took approximately 3 hours to strip out (need two people to remove headlining and roof) an hour working on the roof and 2 hours to put everything back together.  Slightly quicker second time round as I didn't remove the pano roof from the car, just dropped it onto the jacked up seats/headrests and worked on it in situ.

Thank you Mr rfdYeti

Although I am yet to suffer any issues with my sunroof, I read your detailed posting with interest.

Chapeau!  to you and others who take the trouble to write-up and image solutions to our Yeti problems, whether they be current ones or maybe for some time in the future.

It really p1isses me off that despite the obvious manufacturing / design problems relating to this that Skoda will not fix these sort of issues under "warranty".  After 4  Skodas over the last 15 years I am already looking at alternatives for my next car....

To be fair it lasted 8 years which I seem to recall is the average life of most UK cars.

More annoying for me is that I can't source the component parts to be able to repair it.

Plus the sunshade blind has lost the front position so 'over closes' and bounces back to ~1/5 open every time.  So far I've not found out ow to reset it.

Bit more detail in the attached on how to remove roof lining and sunroof if you ever need to fix it yourself.

Hi. Sorry to revive a ~ 5 year old thread. My 2014 yeti has just suffered from what appears to be the same issue. The sunroof only 'closes' on one side, and the other is always somewhat open. I'm unsure which side is in the incorrect position, but I'm assuming it's the side that's always open. Anyway, just thought I'd check if anyone here had the pdf files mentioned here, they all seem to be dead links now.

It's a long shot, but as my local skoda garage has a wait time of 1 month just to look at it, I may need to fix this myself.

After clicking on them have you checked your download folder?

Oh whoops, my mistake. I was getting

Which I took to mean it had been deleted. Then I logged in to post and have now discovered that somewhat generic error actually just means you need to be logged in to download it. Thanks!
