DPF again

Featured Replies

Just bought an Octavia 111, 2016 2.0 diesel DSG, not sure how to look after DPF if anything to be wary of, or to do. Many thanks in advance.

All this does is produce more soot which clogs the DPF and then requires a further regen to burn it off, thereby reducing the overall life of the DPF.

not at high revs and RELATIVLEY low loads

The ECU will regenerate a DPF as and when necessary. If you got for "an italian tune up" when the car doesn't need to regenerate the DPF then all you're doing is wasting diesel, producing soot, and filling the DPF when it was essentially okay anyway. Okay, so it might decide half way through your tune up that it has to regenerate, but that's simply because you pumped a load of soot into it, and not because your driving has forced a regen. If it doesn't need to regenerate, then there's absolutely no point in trying to make it do one.
