How to tell what type of service is needed?

Featured Replies

Stupid question I know... my Fabia is serviced every time it’s required. However I’ve always taken it to the local garage and they do what ever is required.

However may have to take it to a different garage, and would be a good idea if I know what I’m asking for!

On a car that is over 10 years old its probably just OK to let the garage do a good service replacing important items such as cam belts as per the schedule. Sticking to Skoda's schedule is only really relevant during the warranty.

what engine is it?

if its PD then make sure the correct oil is used on the change and apart from that just general service items and keep and eye on cambelt intervals.

It might be of benefit for you to add your engine to your profile so members can see straight away what you have to give the best advice :)

The garage would be able to look at the mileage on the car,

best say what engine, gearbox here & how many miles the car has done, how many services has it had, and was has been getting done everytime,

ie, what has it had other than Oil, Filter, and filters,

Brake fluid ever, belts, anything else done ever?
