Infotainment Online and other apps

Featured Replies

I have got this for 12 months, but I am not sure of the point of it likewise with the Skoda Connect or am I missing something ? Not really sure what either are supposed to do.

Anyone tried the Skoda One App ? It keeps crashing on my iphone 5S, anyone else had problems ?

I didn't subscribe to Infotainment but have set up my phone as a wifi hotspot and use Skoda connect.

I like the way that you can use Google Earth view on the sat nav and also the live traffic feed.  I also like the petrol station feed showing nearby petrol prices, very useful in avoiding rip off motorway fuel prices.

Uninstalled the Skoda Connect app as it seemed pretty useless unless you wanted to pre-plan journeys. Couldn't really work out what benefit the 1 year infotainment online gives - I think it's added POIs.

The My Skoda app was initially quite useful for looking up stuff in the manual but keeps crashing on my Android now

How do I set up the phone as a wifi hotspot ? It's connected to the car and bluetooth enabled for music streaming but when I go into Skoda Connect on the infotainment it just says no internet available.

The My Skoda App seems to work OK, but Skoda One App which looks pretty decent is having none of it  https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/škoda-oneapp/id1123928619?mt=8

In Android you go into hotspot and tethering and turn on portable hotspot. In iOS go into settings then personal hotspot.

Yeah I have OneApp not really sure what it's supposed to do. Seems to be loads of Skoda apps without obvious purposes.

On my Samsung I go into:

Settings

Connections

Mobile Hotspot and Tethering

Turn Mobile Hotspot On

I use My Skoda app for handy ref to the manual etc.  Aside from a couple of things (parking aid, calendar etc) I can't see it needs a connection once set up.

Skoda OneApp needs a cable or wi-fi connection. The android app says:

"...check the vehicle status, journey log, or plan a trip by referencing nearby places of interest simply and conveniently on your smartphone from the comfort of home.  One App delivers a perfect overview of your driving data, statistics and effectivity, both in retrospect and in real time. The app is compatible with cars equipped with ŠKODA SmartLink+ system....The app is supported by all cars equipped with SmartLink+ and produced after 6/2016".

Looks like on our new Karoq I'd be able to use it, but My Skoda and Android Auto meets my needs.

the in fo in my car stated you could use the app to find your car and activate lights via phone once connected but if your hot spoting your phone when in the car it wont work when you exit the car ,so it begs the question what are you getting free for a year ?

Pass. I've got a parking aid in my free/no subs My Skoda. I wouldn't subscribe for anything, even if the first year was free.

I was just picking up the comments on My Skoda crashing and what oneApp was supposed to do.

Think I read somewhere that if you have the Columbus system then you get a SIM card slot.

MySkoda app seems to be ok again after a reinstall

I've got the sim card slot in the columbus and bought a 3 data pay as you go sim pre-loaded with 12gb for £25

I’m going to use a sim dongle and a data sim

Here's a bit more on the One App

Think I'll try re-installing and launching through Apple CarPlay see if that's any better

@Panther_uk,  I’ve not tried a 4G version but had a couple of 3G versions in the past and frankly did not find them as good as the phone for sensitivity.

i negotiated an O2 deal a couple of years ago for unlimited calls, texts and 20Gb of data for £20 and use this as a hotspot for a number of situations when we connect to 4G and link a TV and a couple of iPads and this works quite well.

Talking of wifi hotspots, has anyone got or tried something similar to this rather than the Skoda Carstick ast £130 accessory !!

£70 with a 6Gb sim included

Other suggestions welcome

I bought this dongle https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B06XHYMYKJ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and use a MY3 3GBsim pay as you go

So how does Google Earth work with these services?  Is it like using Google Maps for navigation on the phone or is it simply overlaying on top of the built in in-car navigation (which I have found fairly useless in the Octavia)?

Still having problems connecting via my phone :@

I've turned on personal hotspot and connected my phone via USB, on Skoda Connect in the infotainment tap WLAN and my phone appears on the list, tap that and enter the security key into the infotainment as it appears on my phone and it won't connect even though my phone has full signal and is showing a 4G connection !

Oh what fun modern technology is

Isn't the "hotspot" *instead* of USB?

Always wondered. I use GM or Waze on the car screen via Android Auto. Anything more I look out the window :D
