Fitted TV screens

Featured Replies

I'm just about to receive my new Octavia vrs and want to fit TV screens into the back of the driver and passenger seats to keep the tiny people topped up with Peppa pig.

As the vrs has fixed headrests an after market headrest isn't an option.

Has anyone got any experience of doing this, ideally without the price tag of the Aston Martin rapids.

Honestly - I wouldnt plumb in a pro system unless you’ve got money to burn or plan to keep the car long-term.

Your choices really are Skoda’s own multimedia holders, which clip on to the headrest height posts and can take any tablet, or an off-the-shelf twin screen multimedia system from the likes of Halfords, Amazon on your local in-car entertainment specialist.

Depending on which brand you use, I've found that portable DVD players suffice.

I picked one up for around £25 from Argos, circa 10" screen, it came with a case which paired with a large Velcro strap could be attached around the seat and stays put rather well. I suppose you'd need a multi power adaptor if your going to run more than one player?

They dont  look as tidy as fitted devices but the cost comparison and the fact you can use them

indoors is a no-brainer.

The Skoda holder isn't a choice on the VRS due to the fixed headrests and them being integrated into the seat. The options are going to be limited for aftermarket systems too as OP needs one that doesn't rely on having the headrest posts. Some strong velcro might work?

How young are the kids OP? I can't imagine an integrated setup is cheap. We have a cheap Amazon fire tablet for my lad which sometimes comes into the car for longer journeys. Ok, so he has to hold it, but it was about £50 all in and keeps him entertained with endless amounts of Peppa Pig, Thomas and Friends etc. on a Micro SD.

My mistake. Apologies from the poverty~spec end of the forum ;)

Pretty sure there are some after-market systems which come with straps which would fit round the headrest area. Not the most elegant solution, but spending a fortune on a full-house intergated system for such a notoriously fickle audience doesn’t seem sensible.

The boys are 2 and 5.

The eldest has an Amazon fire but has a tendency to drop it and then freak out mid motor way journey, hence the need for something not hand held.

We use a cheap iPad/Tablet holder off amazon which has a large velcro strap to hold it in place & a clear plastic window for viewing the screen.

These work well but it would perhaps be better with an opening for the screen because you cant change the videos easily once its inserted.

Hey folks. Thought I’d resurrect this post as I too now have the need to get a holder of some description for a screen to hang over the VRS seats with their fixed headrests.

not got the screen yet but just purchased the DigiDash and it has HDMI out. My boy has to lean over and watch the screen from the back currently that’s positioned in the front. So having something close I can send Netflix to is a bonus.

wondering if the OP had any luck in the end?

hope to hear from someone soon
