Individual Mode

Featured Replies

Hi,

Does anyone use there individual mode set up on there Karoq,  I like my gearbox in sport mode but every time you stop the car and restart the gearbox reverts back to normal mode. Although it still says individual mode on infotainment screen, I know it’s just a case of flicking the gear stick back and S is selected, but I would of hoped it stayed in that mode otherwise what’s the point.

I had an Octavia vrs before but that wasn’t a  dsg gearbox and that would stay in whatever you set it to.

i find I get much better fuel economy in sport mode unless on the motorway.

Doesn’t seem to stay in sport mode either if selected, when stopped and restarted.

I do use Individual mode, because the steering was too light for me on standard setting, so I have set to Sport for that. I've also been trying Eco engine setting, which seems to give me 5mpg more, without a noticeable drop in performance.

Settings are retained after switching engine off.

Have manual gearbox, so can't speak for the DSG setting unfortunately.

I also found normal mode steering too light so created individual mode only to change steering to sport.

After selecting it, now it's the default mode and does not revert to normal.

However I have paid for driver personalisation option maybe this is what is keeping it. My wife profile is eco and it loads that every time she gets in amongst many other settings.

My car is DSG

I think if you have the dsg selector in the drive position and just pull it backwards it puts the gearbox in sport mode. Your signature says 140 Edition, is that a typo?

Thats what I do already with the selector but would hope it remembers your setting. Seems to with steering.

I don’t have the personalisation function on mine.

I have the individual setting programmed and it stays on that when selected.

Likewise had this issue with 1.5 DSG.

Car will stay in Eco mode when turned back on, but the gearbox (according to the dials screen) goes back to "D" not "E", whilst the mode selector says its still in eco.

Quite annoying - is there a fix?

Yeah. Mine does exactly this too. How do you know it’s actually in eco mode rather than normal though?

The gear info on the dashboard changes to E when gearbox is in eco.

Either it's failing to stay in evo mode, or the dashboard is incorrect.

Evo mode?

We need that one too, everything full power!!

No it doesn't, I was wrong.

Yep I’m not sure which one is happening. I might try it with sport later. I can tell the difference on the steering easily enough with that one.

Its a known issue with the DSG gearbox software apparently, happens on Superbs also.

When I collect my superb, I'll just get into the habit of Switching engine on, and changing setting manually before I move off.

That's what I'm having to do, but it's a bit crap!

Had a look in my manual again

”After switching the ignition off and on, the drive is set to Normal in the current
driving mode. To change the drive setting, select the relevant driving mode
again.”

So there we go.

Well it's by design then. Not sure I'd have chosen it to be that way...

Does the gear counter stay on 'E'?

Ours stays in eco mode but the gear box changes back to normal.

it says individual on top of the screen as I configured it

Ok.

The issue is that the vehicle stays in the 'mode' such as individual, but that the gearbox does not stay in whatever mode you put it in.

You see the gear counter on the dash but if your individual mode has the gearbox in stabdard, then you won't notice an issue.

You are correct. I just went out for quick trip to shop and went into individual mode settings and switched Drive from Normal to Sport and gear counter is S, soon after engine was switched off, the individual is showing same config but gear counter defaulted to D (normal). I then toggled mode from individual to another mode then back up to individual and S appeared again in gear counter.

I suspect it defaults due to emissions and etc but its very deceptive they was it does it, i might raise this with Skoda to get an official confirmation.

See above - it's in the manual hence by design (whomever thought of it could do with a talking to :) ).  Please post back if they give you a reasonable explanation though :)

That would just really annoy me ! Glad my Octavia was not like that, don't have to worry about it on my Karoq :)

Was this an option? Swear i did see it in the options but didn’t select it.

Yes it's an option on the SE and SE Tech (about £120 if I remember right)
