Spec Changes to Superb

Featured Replies

Hi All - long time lurker but wondered if anyone had more information on this than i could find. If not, then i hope the info below helps someone.

I am about to order my new company car - and its looking to be a Superb Estate, ideally L&K with the 2.0D 150 DSG.

I have been using DrivetheDeal for a while to check prices/option costs etc but have noticed that the trim levels have changed for the Superb and the options available have also altered. Now i agree that DtD arent likely to be 100% accurate when compared with Skoda themselves but they have to get there information from somewhere?

The 2 things that i  noticed is a new trim level "Sport Line Plus" appearing, and then the "L&K" loosing ventilated seats as a an option but gaining ventilated leather as its only upholstery choice.

I managed to find some details on Sport Line Plus:

THE ŠKODA SUPERB SPORTLINE PLUS

The SUPERB SportLine Plus will be open for ordering from 4th April 2018. This premium new model will start from £29,325 OTR. First customer orders are expected to be delivered towards the end of June 2018.

The new SportLine Plus specification offers customers a 40-per-cent saving on the additional equipment over the SportLine trim, but with only a £1,500 premium.

The introduction of this new model means the recommended retail price of the standard SUPERB SportLine trim will be reduced by £470, and the 9.2-inch Columbus navigation will be replaced with the 8.0-inch Amundsen as standard.

SUPERB SportLine Plus standard specification (over SportLine) includes:

  • Columbus satellite navigation with 9.2-inch touchscreen display and integrated Wi-Fi
  • 3D map navigation
  • Premium WLAN with integrated LTE internet
  • DVD drive
  • Heated front seats
  • Blind spot detection
  • Electronically-operated boot
  • Sliding boot cover (Estate only)
  • Progressive dynamic steering

I cant find anything on the changes to the L&K specification, which is what id be interested in as its what i'm looking at ordering. The brochure and price list online are still the versions from Jan/Feb this year, so perhaps an update to them is due?

Anyone else know more than this?

Thanks

I wasn't aware of this for the UK market but had seen it before for other markets.  IIRC it's been available in France and Switzerland for a while now.

TBH if that's an actual spec that's coming into the UK market then you're only better off if you have an estate, to the tune of £50 when compared to what you get as standard now.  If you get the hatch then you're actually £5 worse off in terms of what you get for your money (this is all based on my own maths and current pricing though, so please check!)

So based on the current prices of the estate it would cost you £1080 to buy the options that the Sportline Plus offers as standard.  The same options for the hatch will cost you £1025 (less £55 for the boot cover).     It costs you £1500 to upgrade from a standard Sportline to a Sportline Plus, with a cost reduction of the standard trim (£470).  The only way this at all could seem like a 'good deal' would be if Skoda are also about to put a hefty price increase on it's options list.  Also, why not also introduce some new tech and options that weren't previously available?  Seems like simply clever marketing to me.

Personally, I'd order today with current pricing and spec.

Also @dchbrown  where did you get that spec sheet and pricing from?  Looks awfully like official marketing material?

Hmmm, post count =1 and you are posting official looking spec and pricing

I may just be the only one cynically thinking you work for Skoda

The first working day of each Quarter is when (finance) offers change,  although revised versions of brochures often take few more days

In my experience Skoda website seem to get updated between 12 noon and 2pm on 1st working day of each Quarter, so maybe more info available (to potential buyers) this afternoon.  The price list/spec is usually the clearest until the configurator changes have caught up

I do however work in IT and am pretty handy at web design so can find things on the internet that aren't always in plain sight, so the excerpt above was taken from a UK dealer site:

http://www.thejcbgroup.co.uk/skoda/new-cars/superb-sportline-plus/

I saw about this new trim level on a German site from their review of the Geneva motor show, then decided to see if I could find anything in the UK about it. That's what I came up with.

I am one of those people who researches things to the nth degree so I'm trying to find out everything I can on my next car. The threads on the availability of engines (and cars) over summer has got me worried about getting one at all, plus I would love to be able to get the digital dash that appears to be coming our way soon. If I can learn all I can then I can order the car for me with all of the options I would like on it, or hold off the order until it does have what I want.

I'm hoping that this site can help me get that information.

Thanks I will look this afternoon and see what has been updated.

New price/spec brochure available with sportline plus trim on skoda site.

SE gets front and rear parking sensors

SELgets blind spot monitor and kessy.

Probably other upgrades too.

Pi##ed that I paid for front sensors for my SEL and didn't get blind spot monitor because you had to buy it with kessy and was an arm and a leg at the time (Dec 2017)

What's new on the L&K?

Ah nice, They've added Wireless phone charging, Wi-Fi with LTE internet  and Rear-view parking camera now.

Still no Digital Dash

I see the 280 is still noted as being a 6 speed dsg. I was hoping for the 7 speed!

Although can you actually order a 280 or 220 at the moment even if it did have a new box?

You're right, they're not accepting orders. I've tried :D

Dumb question I guess, but they are building my l&k est this week is it likely to come with the latest or earlier spec

I believe it goes 7 spd when the GPF is introduced.  Based on various media posts and chat on here it seems that could be any time from mid-June.  Skoda UK couldn't confirm when the the first GPF fitted TSI's were going into production.

Earlier, I guess. Updates/changes normally happens in CW22.

My fingers are crossed! Cheers

I believe I read somewhere that because the changes to the TSI motors (GPF) it is going to be week 31.

Maybe thats why my 1.4 TSI is delayed.

Looks like the L&K gains the phone box, rear view camera and perforated leather with ventilated front seats.

build wk 33 is late July isn’t it? Might have to delay my order until then!

Thinking the same. Might also gain the Active info display.

Lookslike the price has gone up to starting from 22k (shown on the home page) although the configurator still shows the old price.

Wouldn’t be surprised if price goes up again with next round EU compliance, in a few months
