Rear shocks

Featured Replies

I am on my second 4x4 yeti now having had my first one taken back to Skoda UK due to to an untraceable whine noise at 60mph but thats another story. The Yeti I have has 19000 miles on it and has always had 2 irritating traits; an annoying crack or creak noise that was very hard to pin point and soft rear shocks compared to my first yeti. Having just had 7 months of misery tying to get my first one's whining noise fixed I couldn't face taking this one back. I tried to find the creak noise by getting someone else to drive while climbed around in the back. No luck, sounded to come from everywhere even the roof. So just tried to ignore it until next service.  Anyway finally had enough of the soggy rear shocks and sent for some Bilsteins. When I went to fit them I found my creak noise. The near side shock top mount bolts were not fully tight (Not loose) allowing the cast alloy mount to move when under enough stress. Shocks fitted now soggy feeling gone and crack noise too.
