Powerflex front wishbone bushes

Featured Replies

Has anyone replaced their front wishbone bushes with Powerflex or other Poly bushes?.

After sorting the suspension with rear ARB and Eibachs the only problem I can see now is the very soft OEM bushes. Even from new the bushes would flex and let the wheel move back and forth when tightening the wheel nuts, so god knows what they get up to with 240 lb/ft behind them. You must get huge toe in on acceleration and toe out on braking, all of which isn't going to help with grip and feel.

I think they will be my next job, but before going ahead I would like to know if they transmit more noise and vibration into the cabin and if the ride is noticably different.

What are your experiences?

You get a little bit more road noise.. mainly from the front bush..

you should try just fitting the rear bushes, as they are DIYable for anyone and have much more of an effect than the front bushes will.

Colin, do you mean the rear bushes on the front wishbone or the bushes on the rear suspension?

The rear mounts on the front. (udder mod) are very simple to do.

Forgot to ask the most important question :o. What difference did they make when fitted?

better turn in and better steering "feel"

Tiz a good mod.. and possibly the easiest mod of them all... only tool needed is a hammer :D

So where can I get said "udder" mod from?

And do they fall out at all?

I'm not going for the "udder" mod. I'm replacing the bushes with Powerflex polyurethane ones. Had them on SWMBO's Ford Ka and they made a huge difference.

does anyone have a part number for them? which bit do they attach to and how much are they? have just got eibachs and strut brace on mine and still feel something is missing:confused: hoping these might be the solution.

Check out the Powerflex website for details.

I'd always thought the twisting when thightening wheel bolts was just the slop in the drive shafts/gearbox/CV joints. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding what you mean.
