Superb sunroofs

Featured Replies

I'm considering getting a superb and would appreciate a bit of clarification about the sunroofs

Am I right in thinking that the

- saloon sunroof is front only, opens and can sometimes leak?

- estate sunroof is full length, doesn't open and hence can't leak?

The front part of the estate roof opens, go for it. It makes the car.

it does?

I really like the sunroof, but I don't like leaks more than I like the sunroof

The saloon sunroof is at the front only and I've not had any leaks since I bought the car.

Mine was an ex-management car that had it fitted when I bought it and I'm pleased to have it, but I don't think I'd bother to pay the extra £865.00 as an option on a new car.

It's almost £1200 on the estate

I'm the same as @Penpusher in that the sunroof came with the ex-demo I bought. I love it, open it every chance I get and it doesn't leak. It has a sun shade, too, so even if you don't have the roof open, you can let the light in. Nice.

Don't forget that the sunroof will almost certainly not be covered by insurance glass cover and cracks and stone damage are not unheard of.

Plus see the threads about creaking sunroofs, seems a common issue.

Common problem sunroof creaks and rattles. Some will not be affected. Some will, luck of the draw.

Be heartened to know the issue affects all models in the VAG so not just superbs it also affects the very expensive Audis.

I doubt the sunroof will leak this early on. Give it a few years then maybe yes.

I have estate with sunroof which the front part slides back and I love it. I have cream coloured seats and when the sun's out it really lights up the car interior. No rattles or leaks so far.

my insurance is up for renewal and after checking what is covered, I can confirm that the sunroof is covered under the windscreen v cover. I think it's adds to the car and was an option I was looking for and fell lucky on an ex management car with only 4k on the clock and fully loaded.

I agree and I think the pano sunroof is worth having.
