Powerbulbs....On the cheap

Featured Replies

After reading ColinD's excellent tuning guide for the Octy vRS. I thought I would start at the cheaper end of the tuning market and replace my headlight bulbs for some recommended in his post. I had a quick float about on the net and had a look at Powerbulbs. They have most of the lights listed and a few other bits and pieces. The Phillips Bluevision Ultra are listed at

Apparently their oem bulbs are pretty good. Called powerplus. I have a pair waiting to go in my car at some stage.

Phillips GT150's

Osram Silverstar, gives more light on the road than those blue bulbs. It's just for looks. Silverstar is whiter than a normal bulb.

running Osram silverstars in my vRS with diadem indicator bulbs. got them from powerbulbs.com

Have them on mine, thought I'd give them a go as they were on 2 for 1 offer. They seem ok, nice clear and crisp white light.

I chose the Osram silverstars( just before Christmas), big difference from the OEM ones and got a free pair of the Phillips sidelights thrown in as well

I have Phillips GT150 (the ridiculously named "Power2Night" ones) in a different car and they are pretty good - certainly better than standard BlueVisions. However, they are quite expensive (£30 ish), and I'm not convinced of their value for money.

Nice one, thanks - although I'm tempted by the offer you got now !

Just to follow up, another top tip for shopping at Powerbulbs.com...

Inside AutoExpress every week they publish a discount voucher code, worth a couple of quid off your order, for just a couple of minutes reading in WHSmiths...

Si

I am using Osrams in mine at the moment. Googling will normally find a discount voucher code as well :-)
