Binding brakes problem

Featured Replies

I have this intermittent problem with my front left brakes. It binded on for no apparent reason the way home the other night. Started about 50 to 70 mph the car was juddering. I thought it must have been tracking or balancing. Got home and the nsf wheel and discs were hot. Not glowing but could smell the burn. Went out again and recreated the scenario but nothing bad happened. Has done it once since in a few days. Does anyone have any ideas before I take it to th e garage next week. Pads and discs are in good condition so I'm thinking calipers stuck?

Caliper stuck or a brake pad stuck in the carrier.

It might  be all it needs is a good clean out and a regrease in the right places.

The wheel might move freely when you first start a trip.

But the further you go the hotter the brakes get and then they expand until being tight enough to heat the disks/pads up.

Thanks AG Falco

Could be seized caliper, if it doesnt retract easily the piston might be seized.
