front assist programming/adaptation 5E

Featured Replies

Hi forum ,

Does anyone know IF the front assist is somewhat programmable ??

i am very dissapointed in this option .

- it warns way too late ( if you are UNDER the lorry in front of you )

- it reacts to cars who take the junction off the motorway

dealer has looked at it already several times and it is all "fine"

anyone tried something ??

Had this in the rapid and it saved my skin (until i got hit in the side and the car got written off)  noticed that i reacts when cars are turning off the road , the first time it freaked me out but at least i knew it worked, its all down to your speed and it monitors the object in front of you, saved me one when a car about 40/50 feet away emergency broke, alarm in the car sounded and the breaks triggered an fraction of a second before i hit the breaks, wouldnt go adjusting anything with it as it will void you're warranty AND have insurance implications.

It’s programmable in the infotainment menu, you can set it to early/medium/late if you haven’t already.

must be related to the cars firmware versions , as mine does not have any settings in infotainment .

Don’t know, my car doesn’t have it but the courtesy car I had from Skoda when mine was being serviced did have it and I toggled it to early activation to see if it did anything. It did :o

My 67 FL Octavia has adaptive cruise control, this can be set at early, medium and late. I'm not sure if this is what you set Sasha? Unless this is going to be another feature I'm about to discover :D

FL SE L with Front Assist but not Active Cruise Control and I don't remember seeing that setting, pretty sure it was just an on/off checkbox.

No the car didn’t have the ACC, was deffo for the front assist. I don’t have it on my car so I can’t post pics of the infotainment system to show where I found it.

I'm tempted to nip out now and take a look, see if I can find it?

It seems like this new FL Octavia SE L keeps on giving :D

Yes Sasha, your right. The option is there for the front assist distance setting as well as on mine, for the adaptive cruise control

Aha!! I wasn’t imagining things :) That’s always good to know.

I stand corrected. Should have known not to doubt Sasha's encyclopaedic Octy knowledge!

It's come back to me now I remember seeing the "Display distance warning" in your photo - a nice feature as I've always said the missus tailgates so it was nice to have the car back me up on that.

Haha, I appreciate the compliment but I have nothing close to the knowledge that many on here possess. I’m just glad the old grey matter is still working properly lol.
