Seat belt warning light randomly flashes

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I would like to get some help.

The seatbelt warning light randomly flashes, when I driving, of course it always fastened. Somebody had a same experience? What will be the cause of it?

Thank you in advance.

something on the passenger seat that is almost the weight of a person.

If nothing was there, you may want to have it checked as I believe this sensor has an impact on the deployment of the passenger airbag.

I noticed the following, if I replaced the seat belts of driver and passenger  exactly fastened the passenger belt into driver's slot and vice versa then not flashes the control lamp. But it a bit uncomfortable.

Hi

Another experience.

If I fastened the seat belt in reverse it can be another workaround temporary for this problem.

Looks like the seat belt socket is faulty then, I doubt you will get any info regarding fixing this but it could be as simple as something having been dropped in it, paper, grit, elephant..who knows. see if the outer cover will come off and have a look.

Had intermittent seatbelt warning on 2008 Octi, drivers seat only. Only needed a light press on the tongue part of the seat belt to stop the alarm so deduced the tongue not quite long enough to reach the switch at the bottom of the buckle due to wear over the years.

Solution was to extend the tongue with a small piece of paper clip, 15x0.8mm, super glued onto the end.

I don't believe this mod affects the safety aspect as the slot in the tongue is where the locking mechanism latches.

Definite relief for me without the annoying alarm while driving.

Any modification to safety system is at your own risk.

Or the tongue latch is excessively worn, allowing the belt to partly pull-out from the socket - I would not like to take my chances on this staying attached in a crash.
