Aux drive belt

Recommended Posts

No mate, if you open the bonnet and look between the front of the engine and the inner wing ( by the washer bottle) you can just see the aux belt... they normally drive alternator, water pump, a/c and power steering..

On the diesel the water pump is fed from the cam belt, indeed it's a good idea to change the water pump at the same time as the cam belt. The power steering is electric.

Back on topic for the OP... Has anyone changed one?

Im rather interested as mine snapped earlier and it’s the second time it’s happened on this engine!

I’ve got a 2014 Superb 2.0 TDI ( I believe it’s a CR170 engine) estate elegance.

This is a video of a Passat with a snapped aux belt, it shows changing the tensioner ..

I cant believe you have to take all that out to change the tensioner!! Not a job for lying on your back on the drive eh!?
