Turbo unit oil sweating?

Featured Replies

Hi, just had my 2012 VRS in for a Minot service and came away with an advisory on "turbo unit has oil sweating from main body". Other related advisory is "n/s lower boost hose has sweating at intercooler coupling".

Service dept told me I'd be looking at a new turbo (£1400!). Can't really find any info on this elsewhere, the cynic in me thinks they are trying to get me to upgrade the car!

Has anyone heard of this?

Cheers

Mike

What kind of 'Minor Service' was being done that this comes up as an advisory?

Talk to the Master Tech that did the examination / diagnosis,  not a Receptionist at the Service Department if they are not a Technician (mechanic)  and their only training is keyboard and up-selling.

Which Dealership?    Arnold Clark ,  West End Garage or An-other?

Possibly just PCV residue not uncommon on couplings on intake tract and intercooler connectors.  Depends how severe the weeping is on the turbo.  Need some photos to go with their description. Is it using oil?  A PCV replacement could also help if it is passing excessive oil into intake pipework.

Hi ,

I also came across similar  situation where there was a Oil was leaking from turbo unit (Picture Attached) and Skoda ASS told i have to go for Turbo Replacement .. I took my car to local mechanic and lifted it up and opened and inspected.. the PVC Hose pipe which is connected to Turbo was weak , so the mechanic opened the pipe and Put some rubber kind of stuff around it and heated and fixed it back (he didn't had a stock to replace ) and its fine now :) S
