Paint defect - Candy White

Hi everyone,

My first post here - unfortunately not with happy news.

I've just spotted that a layer of paint has peeled off on the back boot door.

Absolutely no chance it's a scrape...

Check out the photos.

Anyone spotted similar issues?

I'm arranging a warranty inspection with a local Skoda garage.

Hopefully this will get resolved, but it's rather disappointing...

Not long after we got our last Yeti I went so far as getting a quote from Chips Away for what I thought was a scrape right in the crease line on the boot lid.

Before they turned up, I peeled it off. Paint perfect underneath.

Errant sliver of the delivery vinyl wrap :blush

I would certainly hope it is just some of the protection tape.

Only time I've seen anything like that happen with paint on a relatively new car was years ago when someone used a jet wash on a company van and took a layer of paint off !

Needless to say I've never used a jet wash since to clean the car, bucket and sponge works just fine :)

Wait, what? There's a Styling section?

I best not go there and say I haven't polished a car since I did my back in doing it in 1990, and these days we always use a local hand cash wash with liberal use of jet spray.

Had issues with mileage p/x ing, but never with bodywork.

Each to their own eh? :giggle:

It’s a good job you didn’t post this in the Styling section! ;)

I once (foolishly) informed someone that sponges were frowned upon by the elite amongst the car care gurus, only to then be berated for being an idiot by said experts and not understanding that there are sponges  and "sponges" and I was wrong to make blanket statements about products I don't know anything about. I tend to ignore such topics now and just let people get on with it.

OP, it looks (as said) like a poor PDI by the supplying dealer. Personally I'd take it back in and (ignorantly) have them remove the film, then ask if there might be anything else they missed when they were preparing it for initial sale. Too much time on my hands though, so you could always do it yourself.  :D
