EGR and misfire cylinder 4

Featured Replies

Hi all

I got a 1.4l 16v Fabia recently develop a EGR and misfire cylinder 4 error code...well you know about it by the face the car has rough vibration at idle.

Cleaned the throttle body, EGR and connecting pipe. Also checked the EGR worked with an external 12V source and ran compressed air down the connecting pipe.

The EGR code seem to have disappeared but the misfire persist. I'm now thinking whether the spark plug and/or injectors are coated in carbon too; either take it out to clean it and/or run some redex through the tank.

Has anyone got any experience on this or thoughts?

Many thanks in advance.

Inspect the plug. Swap coilpack 4 with the one from cyl 3 and see if misfire code returns, and if so where.

Sorry, assumed individual coils, posting from phone so can't see what year the car is.

Just checked; swapped coil and it's is definitely the coil.  Spark plugs looks okay and as expected, because of the EGR it's more carbon up on spark plug 4 than 3.

Thanks again.
