Strange fan noise from dash - VRS petrol

Featured Replies

Anyone have any experience with a fan type noise coming from the dash - when the engine is off?

i have Amundsen head unit.

it is a 2016 avRs petrol.

Its not the cars fan!

Any ideas??

Could it be the oil pump having a few minutes cool down time?

It sounds quiet than that.  Bit like computer fan.

Is your Air Con working correctly ? I had this on a MKII Vrs ( TSi ) The Air Condenser was goosed, Stone damage. New Condenser fitted and all was OK

When I got into my O3 yesterday it was really hot inside as it had been parked in the sun and I could hear a fan quietly so I investigated.

The fan was louder when I opened the glovebox, so I'm pretty certain it's the fan on the infotainment main unit (which is n the glovebox).

Does the Amundsen unit have a fan in it - it does sound the same regardless of glovebox open or closed.

The blower motor fan can get a bit noisy if it has debris in it. Take out the pollen filter and shove your hand in and feel around for leaves, etc. Make sure ignition is off first, unless you like stumpy blood soaked hands!

I have just found on the forum.

Would this be be the same issue - is it the same compressor on this model to?

Any thoughts on this?

It's from the guts of the stereo head-unit.

If you don't believe me, pull the fuse for the unit and you won't hear that noise - In other words, perfectly normal.

Hi all.

well I’ve taken the glove box out and used screwdriver to my ear to hear.

Its not from head unit in the glove box and definitely the fan behind the dash - I can reach up and feel the fan vibration type noise as it’s running.

Can anyone answer does their fan come on behind the dash when you take key out of ignition??

Video doesn't seem to work for me, but I have a high pitched whirr if the screen is on after I switch ignition off.

It’s all very odd.

I think it relates to my air con not working properly but after poor service from my local Skoda dealer it’s going back to where I purchased from hoping I’ll get better service from them.

Maybe i will find out the answers- I’ll post up My findings
