what needs to be replaced on 9th service Octavia ii

Featured Replies

Hi Pals,

I want to try self servicing my car this time .

I own Octavia ii Pre FL (Laura in India) 2008 model 1.9 PD (1260000 KMs done) and pending for yearly maintenance. Apart from Engine Oil , what all the spares to be replaced ? I want to try servicing the car myself this time.

unless you've had it from new--I would work on the assumption everything needs doing--  that way you'll know,   so -oil and filter/ air filter/fuel filter/ cabin filter/ check A-Con gas pressure / change g,box oil/ change brake fluid/change/flush coolant/  check all brake pads/shoes  for wear and free movement  additionally i would check the bottom hose off the intercooler and let any oil drain out also  check the EGR valve for clogging up  that should keep you busy for a while ;)

In the UK the brake fluid recommended change is first at 3 years then every 2 years.

But then you can check the brake fluid with a test kit to see the H2o content.  Environment being important.

Same with the Air Filter & Cabin Filter, check or change.

Fuel filter depends on your fuel quality maybe on how often you replace.

Anti freeze / Summer coolant would best be checked for the strength. again you get a tester.

Thanks.. Normally till now i use to give my vehicle in authorized skoda service center only (Last 4 years) , so OEM oil  they use to fill. This time I bought LIQUI MOLY Top Tech 4100 , Ceratec and Engine Flush Plus as well Super Diesel Additive (All LIQUI MOLY products) , I don't have tools to remove Oil filter and diesel filter (Also don't have facility to lift the car for oil drain/change etc.) So decided to go to a independent Garage to get the work done. One more thing ,AC is not cooling proper i'm getting grilled inside the car , last year i replaced compressor control value... few days it was cooling better and again went back to Poor Cooling condition , Recently AC mechanic checked the AC gas and said filling gas will not help me and i have to replace the compressor itself (Its very costly :(  ) , im not convinced if the compressor is really failed..
