I wonder if I beat Bengie to it :D

I've been foiled again!!!

back to the original problem in the thread, phil do you ont realise that driving as a big game and the result is to use as much fuel as possible not as little

my best so far has been my trax outing last year :)

1/4 tank in 1/4 hour, not bad :)

I'm perfectly aware that driving is a big game - however its not much fun when it costs more than it should when you're not even playing ;)

but by getting into the car your entering into the game :)

This morning I thought I'd drive to work in my normal "spirited" manner ;) Averaged 16MPG over 12 miles of B-road at around 50mph most of the way  Something is certainally wrong

Sadly the cause isnt' quite that easy to find :(

Right then, I've cleaned my MAF in the hope that it was the cause - sadly I only managed 24MPG on the way to work this morning :(

it sounds badly wrong. My car does an overall average of 33mpg according to the on-board rea)d-out. With averages of mid-high 30s mpg (temperature dependent) on the motorway to work. mid-20s when giving it some stick.

I was running late for a meeting today - 20MPG for a 38 mile journey of mixed driving.

OK, this is getting silly now - this morning got 38MPG on my usual commute that has been giving me much less for the last month or so.

Ah that sounds much more like it - did you plug the 4th spark plug back in, or something?

I've done nothing and it still hunts about 50rpm either side of idle speed.

Mine's VERY lumpy on idle at the moment also.

Mine was like that a month or so back - 1 vac hose and 4 coil packs later it has improved a little. Still not as smooth as it was.

Passengers sit in the car at traffic lights and say "oo what was that" as the revs dip below idle speed then pick up again.

Mine's just lumpy - "bobbly" might describe it. I'm getting sick of it tbh. Unless it gets fixed soon I'll be looking for another car, and it won't be a Skoda

Bit late to chip in I know but mine did 700km on a tank of Mobil 97.5RON stuff at the weekend - single run up and down mountains and all sorts at up to 100km/h (national speed limit!!)

Works out at about 38mpg

Hi. I,m not sure if this is a record or anything but I managed 49.7 mpg on a trip from South Normanton (j28 m1) to Skegness.

I have also made several trips from j28 to Meadowhall (j34) at around 47-49 mpg and a few mpg less in the opposite direction.

However, over the last months my mpg has worsened. I have my car booked in to have the rear brakes looked at (sticking?) and hope that this will return the mpg back to normal.

Its not so much a record of how much people are getting, more a case of me thinking my car is hopelessly un-economical !
