Sweeping indicators.

Featured Replies

I see these are fitted to 18 plate VW Golf now so does that mean a retro fit for the Octavia is looming?

Probably no more so than when Audi adopted them.

Tricky without linear LED lights

I can't stand the sweeping effect! Each to their own obviously, but I much prefer the standard on / off.

I find them quite good tbh. They give a better indication of direction over the standard flashing amber. From a distance or poor lighting, this could be advantageous. Probably better suited to bikes really, seeing as their indicators are typically close together. Or, they’re solving a problem that doesn’t really exist. I can see both arguments. But I’m in the first camp.

The ones you see in the Golf are retrofit by a 3rd party.

I cannot immediately remember the manufacturer, but they have them for Golf and for Seat Leon.

Unfortunately, no love for Skoda...

I will put the link later if I remember who made them...

Here you go - maybe someone can adapt to fit Skoda:

And this is their site - maybe contact them and check if they would make a Octavia version?

The facelift Golf now comes with OEM sweeping indicators. Standard on GTI, GTD and R. An option on the rest iirc. They’re not third party retrofits.

I stand corrected - either way, I just provided you with some place to start looking if you want this done on the Octavia ;)

As a biker no way. Maybe on a Honda Gold Wing but many bikers minimise the size of their indicators to look cool/sick or whatever the trend is.

Me, I leave the BMW indicators large and  standard.

But not the estate (they didn’t bother producing another cluster for it).. our 7.5 R doesn’t have them, but I’m cool with that

Really. That was the same as the pre facelift. The R had bog standard units at the rear. Thought the facelift was different. Ah well.

Nothing more certain than Death & Taxes so, the evaders are just a waste of time

What's worse, is sweeping indicators at one end of the car but not the other, as on the latest Ford Mondeo. Sweepers on the front, non-sweeping on the back.

The Octavia would look even worse when the rear indicators aren't even LED.

Fur coat and no knickers.

This is one thing that really bugs me with my car... why have full LED lights at the front & the rear tail / brake / fogs but then just stick bulbs in for the indicators & reverse lights.

Just pure laziness on Skoda's part IMO

They don't want to peak too early (don't we all :D).

In other words, holding back on LED indicators allows another mild refresh / facelift in a year or two's time where we'll likely see them added.

BMW are worse for it, they still launch with orange lenses, allowing them to go clear for the next facelift.

Audi do the same on some models...

But it's really easy to swap the bulbs for aftermarket LEDs! And cheap!

Agree, easy to swap for LED but still look like bulbs.. where as designed LED lights would look better, just look at the Golf GTI's with full LED tail lights

Octavia has already had its facelift tho :)
