Tyre pressures again

Featured Replies

Sorry for another similar thread, but not bothered (tut tut) to check tyre pressure so  far ( a few weeks in) but going away soon so thought I would start to check at home today.

Being a superb novice just took out the spare to start with and am now confused as to what pressure it should be. It seems to be a 205/55 R16 but speed limit signs all over it. The fuel flaps says for spare they expect a 125/70 R18 to be 4.2 bar but that seems a bit high for this spare. It actual pressure from dealer is 2.7 bar....seems about right for normal tyre but for this? So what should it be?

Not tested the P7's but assume I can go with fuel flap 2.3/2.6/3.0 as appropriate for load when I do?

Thanks Ben

4.2 Bar in a space saver tyre is correct.

Look on your fuel filler cap for the size 205 55 16 and use the highest/loaded pressure listed, about 3.0 Bar.

Then if you have a puncture when fully loaded you will have enough air pressure in the tyre.

You can always let air out of the tyre at the side of the road but putting it back in?

The tyre will have the maximum pressure it can take listed on the sidewall, about 3.5 bar/50 PSI.

Thanks AG Falco
