Is the Fabia quiet?

Featured Replies

I'm buying a new Fab vRS and a good stereo for it (probs the stylish pioneer 77). Is the vehicle quiet enough for good listening or is it as noisy as a normal little car? What you think?

I hope you've done a testdrive? Find it out the easy way ;)

The dealer has only a 1.4 combi fabia. :/ It may not be the best vehicle to compare with 1.9 tdi vrs.

The dealer told the vrs has 8 speakers fitted. How is the quality, do I have to replace speaker immediately after purchasing?

If you've not heard the Furby vRS before, it sounds a bit like a rough old Transit.

;)

Rubbish.

As diesels go its very quiet, especially on the move. When I took my Dad out in mine after I bought it he didnt even believe it was a diesel.

Obviuosly noisier on a really cold start up than a petrol, but above, say 30mph, it really quietens down and its quieter than a petrol on the motorway.

Okay, seems like the noise isn't the problem n:o 1 then. :) How about the standard speakers? The previous posts say something negative about the front door ones.

One offtopic question: how would you owners describe the clutch movement? Is it similar to normal fabias (and VW consern cars), long and cumbersome?

Speakers are OK (but only just), front's definatly need a little bit of replacement therapy especially if putting a decent HU in, however you must be warned as the magnet depth cannot be too deep else it interfeers with the window action!

Clutch is fine, if you have driven any other PD engine fron VAG then you will know what it's like.

Noise... Well I wouldnt say it's exactly as quite as a petrol! definatly louder than the mrs 1.4 16v, but it isnt defening, and is ok on the motorway and at speed.

Oh and just something else to bring a bit of depate into the board, which car is best, the vRS or the Astra GSI.... Just so you know, the extra 3grand does nothing for the car ;)

Just going on a training do hosted by IBM, and got a GSI as a rental car, it's crap!!!! in fact I dont know how GM sell any of the bloomin thing's! steering is awfull so light and vague that my grandma could drive it, and the cockpit has'nt been updated since the mid 80's!

Oh well that off my chest, I can see now how the VX220 Turbo would benefit from the lump though, got a bit of go, just a pity you cant use it, your terified as the brakes and steering are so vague!

ive fitted jvc hu in my vrs speakers are fine in mine.

Well the vRS is certainly quieter than my old 16v, but then most on here will know the reason for that! ;)

As diesels go, it sure is quiet, especially once moving. I have to say that I'm not used to a quiet car and am looking into how to get a bit more noise out of it now! :p

As for the speakers, they actually seem to be much improved on my old 16v, though the HU is quite basic as it won't even play any of my CD-R's! :( Have to remedy that with an MP3 player methinks! :D

If your wondering what I'm on about by the fact that the vRS is quieter than my 16v, just look at the pic in my sig of my old Cayenne Furby and look at the exhaust! Might give you an idea. The ickle silencer at the back was the only one on the whole car!

K. Maybe gotta listen to the standard speakers first and then decide whether to upgrade or not.

Btw, anyone got pics of the dashboard in dark with lights on? :)

On the plus side, at least it wasn't the Vectra GSi, which is even worse... :D

Rob.

The autochanger plays copied cd's (both r and rw) just fine ;)
