Hi

Just would like to say thanks for all the help, i am now the owner of an 02 vRS in black :D lovely car, well quick, pulls nicely, especially from 70 to *30!!! hehe. Ive just gone and bought a load of cleaning stuff to give it a good valet at the weekend, but im not sure what to use on the white bits on the seats and door trim, and the carpet?? any ideas.....

Also, in the cold, it seems to steam alot more than i would have though, do yours do that, it was 1 degree yesterday.

And one of thing, there is a weird noice when pulling away, didnt notice it on the test drive as its quiet, but its almost like the bumper is scraping on the road, but once the clutch is full lifted it gone, poss clutch prob???

Oh, and me being a muppet, ive already scratched the underside of the front bumper :( didnt realise how low it was when pulling up in a car park, blumin kerbs, they need to lower them :) still only a small scratch under it where you cannot see it :D

Anyway, thanks again.

Gav

If you do a search for cleaning gear for the light parts of the seats, there are loads of post for it.

I use DP liquid soda crystals, all of about £1.49p in Tescos, no bleach or detergents in it, and it really works.

As for the steam, the exhaust on my 53 plate vRS was steaming like a Swedish hot tub when I picked it up last week in temps close to zero...once the car is warmed up though, it disappears.

Si ;)

AutoGlym do a good foam cleaner for the seats, doors and carpet... i used to use a teflon based cleaner but you cant get it anymore. will have to try the soda crystals though...

the underside of my bumper has a few scrathces on it too, you'll soon learn to steer clear of the kerbs when parking...

forgot to ask, do they do a silver cover for the stereo/gearlever surround, same colour as the gearlever top? just seems silly that the car is black with touches of silver and white cloth trim, but the surround is a weird blue/grey carbon style........... is it the same shape as the golf's??

The exhaust looks best when its still steaming after you've got out at the end of a run - looks like the barrel of a smokin' gun ;)

That'll just be your unburnt fuel Mr.G :P

Do you get the strange noise every time you pull away or is it just on the first time after you've started the car? If it just the first time then nothing to worry about - it's the ABS/ASR doing it's self test routine.

its everytime, however today i didnt notice it!!

There is another noise now to replace it, it sounds like the exhaust is hitting the underside of the car now!!! but only when pulling away and a low revs, below 1,500rpm, only for a second. So will get a garage to check it out.

I had a similar knocking noise when I collected my car from a non-skoda dealer.

I took it to a Skoda dealer to look at it and they spent a day fiddling but "couldnt find a problem" - Strangely its not done it since and luckily for me they diddnt charge as they couldnt fix it

Soda Crystals are excellent.Couldn't find the DP liquid ones.Been searching for months now!Bought vanish ones, dissolved in water and washed seats down at weekend and left them

wicked, off to tesco today so will have a look for them.

do you think the trader i got my car off could do something about the knocking, i think its just the exhaust hitting the underside, but i dont want to drive to surrey for him to sort it, its over 2 hours drive from here!!!
