Fuel & engine flush.

Featured Replies

The wife's 2 year old Fabia is due it's 1st service. Dealer's have quoted £210 for the service & offered a fuel & engine flush for £40.

Is this worth having done & is it something I could do myself bearing in mind I'm not technically minded?

She's done about 8500 miles in It so far.

Many thanks for any advice.

No

And no

It's all a bonus add on for the service advisor

Upsell upsell upsell

One of the reasons I left the motor trade and never looked back

Modern oils shouldn't gunk up an engine like old days and same.goes for the fuel system

This is a moneyspinner for the dealer,IMO not needed, using branded fuel and correct oil services is all that's required

If the car has only done 8500 miles from new it would be better for the car to have fixed service intervals.

So one service every 372 days or 15000 Km which ever is the sooner.

Is this the Forte / good garage scheme. If so, then no don't take them up on their offer.

It's actually on a PCP from a main dealer. We agreed 5000 miles per year with variable service.

Not in the slightest. Not even if it was 40p.

Petrol or diesel engine?

If it's on variable, will you even get the two year old oil changed for your £210?

It's a petrol.

That was an odd one for any Dealership employee to suggest.

If you are only keeping the car 3 years then it will mean you only pay one service though.

On a 42 month contract.

Perfect, no need for you to pay to service it a 2nd time before handed back, just once at 24 months.

Thanks for all the advice chaps

I'd even consider far to say terra clean is a con

I've contacted at least 5 centres including head office asking for boroscope images of before and after treatment

As yet no-one has got back to me

At my last service at an independent garage they used a fuel additive and engine flush which I had not asked for as the car was simply in for its 3rd yearly service. Complained to the garage as in the Skoda handbook it specifically advises not to use fuel additives as it can damage the engine. Checking the bills from the 2 dealer services no additives or engine flush had been used. Joe

Skoda official documentation for servicing the fabia actualy states to use fuel cleaning aditives, but only for countries, that have poor fuel quality.

But this written in online erwin documents and not in the user manual that you recieved with the car.
