Steeled myself and polished the Superb yesterday. I found that the chrome exhaust outlets were tarnished. Any tips for polishing them?

Solvol Autosol or any other metal polish should be fine and then a ‘normal’ polish to help keep it looking nice afterwards.

This. I also give mine a spray over with WD40 after polishing.

So I used a bit of citrus APC on the inside and let it dwell before for attaking it with a reasonably stiff bristled brush. Once there was no more black soot splatting out I rinsed it off. Then the outside of the pipe was a wash and rinse with a wipe of tar and glue remover. Next step was some Meguiars NXT metal polish on the inside with some fine grade wire wool and NXT with a foam applicator pad on the outside. Remove the residue and then polish/wax it for protection. 

 

The photo is my last car, at 12k and 2 years. Once you have got them up to scratch they are easy to keep looking good.

Yes, wax after not polish, you can use polish to clean them as it has a slight abrasive quality then wax them to protect.
