1985 Mk1 Golf GTI cabriolet all black edition

Featured Replies

Well this is my main project. After always wanting one I finally purchased this beauty last August for just £3100 with only 42k on the clock.

Has never been sprayed or welded and doesnt need it either, completely original but with a very long advisory list on the MOT

I've done quite a bit too her but nothing that isnt reversible and all original parts have been kept.

Its had a total of 8 litres of waxoil inside and out.

Everything on the engine that is serviceable has been done.

Jetex system all sprayed in VHT

Corroded shocks replaced for coilovers

Single light grille

Gti tintop chin spoiler

All red rear lights

Period snap off steering wheel, mainly for security

Currently doing a full brake overhaul.

So far have new discs and pads on the front with calipers, carriers and centre of discs all painted in VHT and goodridge braided lines.

Brand new drums, again VHT'd, shoes, cables, springs, adjusters,  the lot basicly with Hel braided lines.

Mk2 16v servo (guess what I sprayed that with) modded to fit and 22mm master cylinder.

I am currently in the process of making my own copper brakelines.

Still a lot to do but she's looking sharp and should pass the MOT next month without a single hiccup

I thought this deserved a little update, its now on the road and having passed its mot I've been using it when the weather allows and giving it a good clean, wax and polish.

I've been using poorboys products on it and they are amazing for the price
