No signs of life, dash lights or starting

Featured Replies

Evening all,

My 2011 VRS TDI has developed a fault which is baffling and left me without a car for the holiday (now suffering the indignity of driving a Kia hire car).

Anyway, I drove home from work the other evening and popped into the shop. I came to drive away and basically nothing happened. No dash lights, radio, nothing.

The RAC came and went through checking the battery, fuses etc but all seemed fine. Couldn't do a diagnostic scan as there's no power to the instrument cluster.

The car has been recovered back to the garage I bought it from as it's got an RAC warranty on. They haven't as yet been able to find the fault.

Anybody got any ideas what's going on? Only had the car a few weeks and was enjoying it until now. Hoping it doesn't escalate into a massive clusterf*ck!

Hi fella.

I had the same problem as you. It took me 3 days to find fault. The problem was left-hand side relay 460 on the relay panel under steering column.

Hopefully this will help you.

Great, thanks for the info. I'll call the garage on Tuesday when they're back. Hopefully that will sort it :)
