If you have just brought the car and its using oil excessively (ie more than 0.5 litres per 621miles which is what the manual states as acceptable) then you have a good case for returning as its outside of the benchmark.  Assuming you dont have a noticeable oil leak anywhere then make the dealer / garage aware and start monitoring it.

I returned mine to the trader I purchased off

I sometimes do considerable mileage and with my old one I once topped it up 3 times in one week as it was off the dip stick each time.

Are you getting oil spots (as opposed to soot) either in the pipes or up the back of the car - notice any form of smoke / emissions from the car under hard acceleration?

Noticed spots of oil on the rear door last time I drove it, hadn’t noticed the first few trips

Check the sticker on top cover of the timing chain for manufacture day and serial number.

When it is produced before 31.5.2011 and serial number is below CDA 221246, you have the worst oil control rings and pistons ...

That’s me too sadly. Don’t even need to record oil consumption either, have noticed it drop by eye in the past few days alone to below min!
