Is it possible to get a roof rack / roof bars for my Fabia Mk 1 Estate?

Hi again

I guess the title says it all really :)

Here's a couple of photos showing the roof.  And just in case it is relevant, the idea would be to use a roof box.

Cheers

I have the same car, but I purchased it complete with the roof bars, so they're definitely available. Have you checked local scrap yards or eBay?

That is a Bohemia which comes with roof bars factory fitted, best option is Thule or similar that mount via hooking under rubbers in door apertures or may be roof lining out to fit factory bars.

@Hawthorn654 - Roof bars were standard on the Elegance estate. If buying, make sure you get the revised rubber strips for the channels.

What I don't know is whether or not the captive nuts the bars bolt to were always installed.

You can cut/trim existing seals to fit rails and save £100+

Many thanks for all the replies.  I've never fitted (or had anything to do with) roof rails and bars before, so this is all new to me.

To make sure I've got it right....

One option would be to retro fit some rails so that my roof ends up looking like J4nus's.  I could then buy any universal bars to fit the rails.  Is that correct?  And is the only option for the rails the Skoda genuine ones or can you get cheaper universal rails?

If I go for the rails option, I would need to remove the black strips?

Another option would be to buy roof bars which do not require the rails to be there and instead fit to the top of the "door frames".  So these would be a complete all in one kit.  Are Thule the only people who do these or are there cheaper options?

Any other options besides those?

Thanks again

Thanks Keith, that's really VERY helpful :)

Do you know how they fit and how easy they are to fit?

Cheers

I have a set for my hatchback, they require tools to fit and are a bit of a faff but once they're on they're plenty strong and secure enough for a roofbox.
