skoda Octavia problem installing radio

Featured Replies

hallo all i have a problem and a question

i am trying to install  on my skoda octavia 1.8T 4x4 2004 model  one radio that i take from a friend he has a skoda yeti 2014 model i believe that is a bolero model

i try to install it but it is says COMPONENT PROTECTION PLEASE TURN IGNITION ON . it is not locked otherwise it would ask me for a security code  i know that yeti has a can bus system and i know that this is my problem  is there any solution to bypass that problem

thank you in advance

The radio you're trying to fit doesn't have a security 4 digit code. It has Component Protection which is the next level of security built into the unit and all newer cars. If you've installed it and it's saying what it does, then you won't be able to make it work. Once Component Protection is active then the unit is effectively useless.

you say that is useless ? i cant do anything like an emulator or something like that

Before the unit has had the Component Protection triggered (like you did with yours) then it can be fixed with a soldered extra pcb onto the main board, and possibly a CAN filter fitted in an adapter loom between the unit and the car. Cost for this is considerable if you can find someone to do it for you. I'd budget a couple of hundred quid as a starting point.

Once the unit is triggered with Component Protection, I doubt you'll have any chance of getting it working.

A warm welcome to the Forum Stefos!  Looks like you will need a specialist to try and beat the system that is locking it.
