had a chance to look at any tellys yet?

Nope :crying:

Cursory look in Currys last Sunday, but while we got an idea of size, it's quite hard to judge one screen quality against another in a big store environment.

I'm on a six day week this week and my 'weekend' doesn't start until 10pm Saturday, so it'll be Sunday or Monday at the earliest I'll have any time.

Oh most definitely, yes!! Or at least they did about a year ago - The warranty was also free and was 6 years, not 5.   However, they do not have every model of TV in stock at every branch al

Currys tend not to set their display models up very well, so might be worth looking round other shops at the same models...

If you’ve a Richer Sounds nearby I’d pop in as you’ll probably get a better idea of what sets picture you like.

25.3 miles away in Brighton, or 28.4 miles away in Tunbridge Wells, not that I've checked :notme:

Other fallback is John Lewis, but I suspect there also 28.4 mikes away. 8-)

Give me your money and I'll buy you one :)

Lots of money please :)

I'm ace at spending other peoples money :)

No I am a woman, hear me roar......."GIVE ME YOUR MONEY"

Had a quick scan through the thread, TV set up has been mentioned briefly. The shop setups are usually not representative of a good picture setup usually all the settings turned up to full including quite a few of the manufacturers own picture processing modes. You can compare like for like I guess as they are all gaudy and bright, streaming the same film clip, Passengers when I last looked.

The point I’m making is expect to do quite a bit of tweaking once bought and just make sure that the tv has the potential for a good picture by checking out the reviews.

An OLED is the way to go for me eventually, though I’m hanging on for the tech to come down in price and screens to become a little brighter.

Curiously not - 32.3 miles.  Still easier and more pleasant to get to than Brighton.

If I ever have lots of money to give away I'll look to your aceness for support with spending it.  I have high expectations, but have no doubt you'll step up to the mark with aplomb

Rest assured. Any amount of money given me for spending of, will get spent. You may end up with an elephant and small rocket ship, but these little mishaps are bound to happen along the way :)

If you can roar louder than the wife, you can have all the money you want...

Yesterday me and Mrs V6 went up to Tunbridge Wells and saw the chaps at Richer Sounds.  I was leaning towards a Samsung NU8000 as it seemed to tick the boxes.  However, chatting through the options there was clearly a couple of others to think about too.  We ended up going with the advice of Richer Sounds, for what we needed.

So I have a new, albeit temporary, garden ornament:

And it's in with the new Sony Bravia 49" XF90:

One of the first things Mrs V6 said when we plopped it in place was how it didn't look too big after all :wondering:

Had to re-tune the you view box to get the picture quality sorted, but it's all good now B)

While we were at Tunbridge Wells, Mrs V6 popped around the corner into The Lanes, and came back with a new handbag.  One can't help but wonder if going to RS was actually second on the agenda!

Thanks for all the help and advice folks

I still can't believe you were still using a CRT TV. Next you will be telling us you don't have double glazing:D

I stupidly swapped my green kryptonics for the bowlriders.  Oh the stupidity of youth.  Bowlriders were great, but shoite in the wet.  They were also pretty good at stopping dead on the smallest of stones.  That's the initial reason why I had seven more bones than I was supposed to have in my elbow at the tender age of 13

Even my kids had to concede the picture on a 100hz CRT took some beating when it worked.

My Parents had the same TV, Its still not common to have a true 100hz panel on a LCD even now.

I had  Kryptonics on a Green kicktail deck that looked just like your red one.  Swapped to Chicago / Cadillac Truck + Wheel combo for more speed downhill.
