Ross - do the Neuspeed ones require the special tool (6" nail) and lots of fettling like the Dieselgeek one ?

I used to fit them straight on.

Remove the 13mm nut on the top of the shifter, slide the mech off, fit the new one. Job done.

Dont suppose you'd be able to give us the correct part number?

For the Neuspeed item?

God knows, AmD got them in and I fitted them.

Goochie,

is the dieselgeek sigma shifter reccomended then?

cos one of my relatives if coming down from the US so i can have it hand carried to me.

Although i must say that my car has just completed 10k kilometers and the shift quality has improved noticably.

I'm thinking of getting the Custom Code phase 1 remap done as the car in India is detuned to make only 150 bhp:( and maybe the dieselgeek mod will be a worthwhile addition

People fit the DG one on golfs quite frequently. Everyone that has fitted one likes it, one even said to me that he thought it was as good as my Integra Type R gear change.

However, it is worth considering that it may wear the synchromesh slightly as you're effectivly changing gear quickly and forcefully every time you move the stick.

I'd have one though.

going back to the shifter, my one on me vRS turns from left to right and is a real pain when driving, so i was thinkng of fixing it, (any idea how) but then, ive got a new golf hire car and its got a round one, same as my bosses new audi, and i thought the feel is much better than the pointy on in the octy, is it an easy change to swap to tops over? and would the std gaiter thing fit a VW/Audi one?

Cheers

MK 4 golf top will fit straight on. EddyH has one on his car.

cool, will look for one, in the mean time, ive gotta fix mine, and idea how to stop this moving? does the gear gaiter thing just unclip?

Yep, the gatier is clipped into the surround, should be able to press it in at the sides and un-clip it with ease.

cool, but i notice on the gear handle there is a weird clip round the base holding it on, can this be tightened or should i remove this and get a small jubalee (bad spelling) clip to put there? whats the best thing to do to fix this?
