Aye, watched that before. Does seem like they opened a can of worms with the electrics, but they appear to be doing a good job putting it all back together

I've been watching it since the first episode. Great it's getting a refurb.

I had a Mk1 1.9TDi Elegance (110TDi) back in 2003, the most economical car I've ever owned.

It was more economical than the Fabia which was a 1.9 PD 100.

Spotted this the other day. Not a big fan of the guy on the video, but pretty incredible the car has covered so many miles and still going strong!

They were the best engine, no dpf and minimal electronics.

I sold my 04 plate 1.9 90 with 199000 miles on it, still ran perfectly and did 50+mpg. It’s still in use with well over 200k on the clock, and the new owners tow a caravan with it.

I always preferred the TDi PD's, the power delivery was more useful, the current CR seems really tepid in comparison.

The 90 and 110 1.9 TDi's as fitted in "Miles" were before PD, just a mechanical injector pump and direct injection, simple tech.

The 90 had a wastegated turbo and the 110 a VNT turbo.

At the time they held the world record as the most thermally efficient production engine.

Doesn't surprise me one little bit,old school primitive engine

Propper servicing quality oil

To illustrate my own personal record was an ALFA 33 with 376000 miles on it before it was written off by an errant van in the ice

Not the first thing that would come to mind when one thinks of longevity

I had use have old school 110tdi too and ran mine to 200k with no problems and did 60 mpg a long run.  Pretty sure it it won some kind of engine of the year award when it first came out.
