Riding The Clutch

Featured Replies

I was taught when driving a manual car that "when a pause becomes a wait" (i.e. you stop for more than a few seconds) you put the handbrake on and take the car out of gear. Not only are you not riding the clutch you're also not glaring the guy behind with your 3 brake lights (which at night time could seriously affect his/her night vision).

As hand brakes become a thing of the past and there are more vehicles with Auto Hold (and Electric Parking brakes)  it is a shame many drivers have no idea if Autohold has the rear brake lights on or not.

Some VW Group vehicles do have the rear brake lights illuminate ans some do not.   Crazy European / EU thing that goes against how UK drivers were taught and the Highway Code recommendations.
