As mentioned t'other day we've acquired an 07 Ambiente 1.9tdi estate with a bruised nose. I've booked a breaker visit tomorrow to pick up a bumper, wing and headlight but I'm wondering what else I should shop for from the donor vehicle and how hard it would be to fit same to our Ambiente.

 

I can think of some now:

 

- fog lights

- drls

- auto-folding mirrors

- radio with sub port and maybe sat nav

 

Any suggestions, advice please?

air con OK ?

Auto fold mirrors were never an option on the pre fl. If you go satnav try and get a Columbus unit as the older units are very dated and the Amundsen does not integrate so well in the pre fl. Suspect you will need to be very lucky there though..

Aircon feels like It needs re-gassing but no obvious problems otherwise. Won't know more until I'm able to plug In a diagnostic reader.

 

Good advice on the mirrors/satnav; projects to think of In the future

Question for my own benifit. Do the wings bolt off? Asking as my father has just bumped a gate post in an 08, so the breaker route would be a good option to save cost.

Yes and no. According to the online manuals there are several bolts plus some adhesive pads at the top by the windscreen.

 

I've asked the breaker I'm en route to this morning to allow me to watch and photograph the donor wing coming off so I can refit it later.

 

I'll post the details anon fyi.

On my 08 its just bolts which are accessible when you remove the door card.

Some time since you posted this, but wondered how easy the wing change was?

Breaker pulled the wing and bumper before I got there so missed that bit :(

 

I'm planning to replace both the front bumper and nsf wing starting in about a week and I will be making a detailed record which should be ready to post early September.

In the middle of it at the moment, hoping to be finished by the end of the week coming.  Have taken quite a few piccies and I do intend to write it up when I'm done.

 

I'm going to close this thread and start a new one about changing the wing and bumper - look for "Sore Nose Octy" in a couple of weeks.
