Unknown error with my engine?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone!

I have a Skoda Octavia 2013 mark 3 Vrs. I was joining onto the motorway and heard a bang and saw loads of black smoke coming from the back of my car. I pulled over onto the hard shoulder, the engine management light came on since then I’ve had a brand new turbo, 4 now Injecters, air flow mass, turbo boost sensor, egr valve cooler fitted since then. On the computer it’s showing air flow mass and injector 3 down. It’s chucking a lot of smoke sometimes white, sometimes blue so the problem has not yet been sorted. Two weeks prior to the incident I was putting a litre of oil in every four days. Can someone give me advice on what the problem could be I’m losing my mind. Any input would be much appreciated, Thanks!

Much sympathy and no easy answer especially since you have already replaced so much.

Another possible culprit for your current injector problems (although not the original big bang) could be the injector loom.

Have to confess I have no knowledge of the loom in this model, just that in general they lead a hard life and can cause problems.

Thanks pal I’ll look into it

Sounds like it might be the head gasket is part of the problem. Usually blue smoke indicates oil leaking past the gasket. White smoke indicates water. If you have a massively blown gasket it could be mixing oil and water. Try changing the oil to see if there is any water in there and also check the water header for a sheen of oil.

exactly what I was going to say, blue smoke for oïl & white smoke for water...

If you have a mix of both I would think about the head gasket.

One litre of oïl every 4 days is a lot unless you are driving 24 hours a day.

My guess would be the excess oïl was burning & causing the turbo to overspeed & as a result of the increase cylinder pressure its damaged the head gasket.

For diagnosising what to do next, start with the electrical faults for the MAF & Injectors.

Nothing will run well without these & they can be diagnosed when the engine is off.
