Apple Play Home Button Screen Burn

Featured Replies

My Superb is 8 months old & I have noticed over the last few days that the home button when using Apple Play was an orange white instead of bright white.

When Apple play unplugged I have noticed the reason for this is that there is screen burn from the home button that leaves a perfect image of the home button but in orange on my screen.

Has anyone else seen this, & does anyone have any advice on what to do?

Is it worth reporting to Skoda, or do I just have to live with it?

TIA,

K

That sound wery concerning ....

Is the mark still there after car has spent resting overnight? I have noticed that my Bolero screen sometimes has visible marks of bright colors when they are on my screen for a very long time but they always fade away in some time.

If I were you, I would show this to my dealer. Your car radio is Apple CarPlay compadible so there should be no problems using it.

How often is your phone plugged in using apple carplay?  As the home button is white, if you have it plugged in all of the time, but not doing anything, I might expect a small amount of screen-burn.  The displays are not OLED so there is always a backlight - see if it fades by not using car play for a while and using the nav on screen instead?

Worth speaking to dealer as vehicle still under warranty and they may replace the ICE unit / screen.

My car is 2 months old and no sign of anything like that (yet).

LCD screens can suffer from display persistence (rather than classic burn-in of CRT days) caused by the pixels not relaxing to their native state.  On TV/Monitors it is usually cleared by using a colour generator that cycles every pixel through its colour range.

Occasionally the change does become permanent.  Leaving the screen off or regularly changing what is visible should help ‘exercise’ the pixels.  If that doesn’t work then it’s a warranty issue as decent modern displays should not suffer from this problem.

Thanks all for replies & advice.

I attach a photo of the issue when in the navigation screen.

I have contacted dealer & await a reply.

Thanks

Damn that looks concerning! They should replace that... Its hardware failure.
