My brand new VRS 4x4 TDI DSG

Featured Replies

Hi all,

yesterday I got my first DSG car: a blue VRS 4x4 TDI DSG with thought as an upgrade to my previous TDI 4x4. Nothing fancy, just the roof for kids and retro camera

The car was/is dusty and needs desperately a good wash and wax or some cheap diy detailing and to turn that damned noise (sound) generator off.

I've been missing this great forum for some years, would anybody be so kind to provide me some suggestion or quick link to existing posts?

TIA,

Stefano

Thank you all!

It seems I found how to cope with the fake noise generator, btw I should have an OBDII lying around...

Any suggestion for a paint sealant, after a good wash and before a good layer of wax?

TIA,

Stefano

ok, today I had first serious trip (around 200 miles).

I was a bit worried I would have missed my manual shifting, but I didn't.

It's a pleasure to shift gears with paddles, and overall the VRS was a big upgrade on the 150ps Executive (or can't remember the local name of the trim). I found the car much more smooth (I tried to run gently the break-in period), brakes, setup, steering are way better. I remember somewhere I read the VRS wasn't a big upgrade to the 150... either the journalist who signed the piece has never driven them, or he should write about something else.

Only think I keep missing from my beloved old remapped PD170 are the central front vain and - above all - the beautiful leather/alcantare seats it had.

On this latter I didn't go for leather and the standard MkIII VRS seats are really cheap, and terribly warm at 32°C!
