£200 seems very cheap to retrim the front seats in leather. If it is £200, I'd be dubious about the quality of leather.

I believe the likes of Seat Surgeons charge around £450 for a retrim on the fronts.

A full retrim (fronts, rear & door cards) is £780 with Briskoda discount.

I like a challenge &, as far as I know, nobody has done this before. Modifying cars is my passion but I like to keep it "OEM+" style. I wouldn't go as far as to change the dash though!

The TT seats have more support on the lower bolsters & feel firmer in general. I believe they are manufactured by Recaro (found a Recaro sticker underneath the seat whilst unbolting the runners), so they are very high quality.

I paid £250 for the seats, so if I can get the rear retrim for around £300, I'll be happy.

TT dash will never fit a Fabia.

I beg to differ. Anything can be done with the 'know how' and some tactful cutting.

I've seen both the TT dash and the Fabia dash in MK2 Golfs, both looked pretty OEM (apart from door cards not matching up very well.

Good luck Jon.

Cheers Tom.

Things are going well so far. The runners are now off the TT seats & I need to get some brackets to adapt the Fabia runners.

Should have them by the end of the week & then I can take out the the Fabia seats & measure distances of the runners & height between runner & seat.

I look forward to seeing them Jon when we meet up next!

You can have a sit on them, if you wish! :D

I dont mean to be devils advocate here and i usually hate it when the usual "What about this" question comes up, but this will boil down to your safety,

The standard seat brackets are rigerously crash tested to how well they stand up in the event of an accident, welding up your own would increase the risk of injury/death in the event of a big un' . I'm not saying dont do it, because I like these kind of projects but just be aware of the possible knock on implications even down to insurance not paying out injury claims.

ok, maybe i did play devils advocate :D but i have a clear Conscience now :)

EDIT: Just read you think the seats may be made by recaro, If thats the case any set of Recaro bases to fit a mk4 ibiza or fabia (Not sure what else) will fit as IIRC from my ripofspeed days all the bolt Arrays of recaro seats are the same, maybe this link will be of some use http://www.recaro.com/englisch/produkte/pkw-sitze/konsolen/konsolen.asp?typ=d&ID=294

Don't worry. I'm cheating a little bit & using Sparco subframes & retaining the Fabia runners. I will also use new bolts for the securing to the floorpan (or at least locktighting the original bolts).

I have thought it thro' & definately not cutting any corners.

:orb_phew: I feel much better now  I felt it was my duty to be the annoying nosey barsteward to state that :)

It's quite a valid point. Glad you brought it up! :D

Come on then man - get off the computer and get fitting those seats. Not really my thing but I'm quite keen to see photos of them in the car.

Can't do anything during office hours, if you know what I mean! ;)

Shouldn't really be on HERE!:o

Updated photos will be posted as & when I can.

Quick update:

Removed the original seat & tried the TT seat in for size. Everything seems to fit in nicely.

Progress has come to a halt now, as I have the Sparco subframes on order & not entirely sure if they will arrive tomorrow. :(

On the plus side, tomorrow I will be getting some "Liguid Leather" cleaner & conditioner to spruce things up & re-instate that lovely leather smell!

Each to their own!

Those seats are great.

how do they feel compared to the originals ?

Looking good, hat off to you

Hopefully I'll be sitting in one of those seats soon ;)

Noooooooo......... dont do it James ! ;)

TT seat looks much better in the Fabia IMHO. Less garish than the standard one and also looks more comfy! Hope it's heated though, leather is very cold this time of year

As mentioned before, the TT seats feel much firmer & the lower bolsters give more support.

I was sad enough to have a sit on one whilst they were on the kitchen floor!:D

Very comfy.

They are heated & I managed to salvage about a foot length of wiring loom. However, I believe the TT seats are controlled by the AC climate unit with a rheostat on the switch. If I can get the control unit & switch to work from a Fabia, then that will be spot on.

This is something I gonna look at later. The first hurdle is to get the seats in!

The heating control on the TT is done from a rotary dial button on the console which you press and it springs out. The rotary bit controls the heat settings.

As far as I know this is independant of the A/C climate unit!

I know this as I bought my ex. a new TT for her birthday just before we split up!:o

get fabia seat heat controlls from an elegance or a specced up vrs

i'm very interested in how you get on i desperately need to loose the beige but wanna keep my heaters
