Windscreen Sunshade

Featured Replies

My current windscreen sunshade needs replacing but apart from the cheap and nasty ones which wont fit and wont last are there any about which are for the mk2 octavia?

All i find are the blinds for the rear windows, nothing for the windscreen and blocking the sun whilst parked up.

I got one from AliExpress :)

I've got one of those cheap and nasty silver paper ones, I bought it for about three years from a Chinese Shop in Spain when I was on holiday, to stop it from collapsing onto the top of the dash I've glued and gorilla taped four wooden slats to the back side, also I've cut a "V" into it where it goes in-front of the mirror, even rolled up it's little bigger than one without the wooden slats...total cost about £3.....

I have the sunscreen above, I just use one of the elastic loops that are used to secure it when it is rolled up, and slotted it through the sunvisor - the elastic loop is only on one side, but I got the MiL to stitch one on the other side.

I didn't cut a V for the mirror, instead I prop it against the the back of the mirror for better rigidity.

You can also get this style of shade with a flap either side and you just close the doors over the flaps to secure it. The advantage with that style is you can use it on the outside during winter to prevent/reduce ice forming.

Whilst driving through Spain I noticed most drivers there just use opened up cardboard boxes/packaging propped up on the dash.

Overcome.

Adapt

Improvise, indeed!

Still a good idea to buy some cheap wooden slats from B&Q for extra rigidity...only costs pennies....

The problem with having flaps at each end to secure it between the door and body is when it rains the bits of screen on the outside can soak up water and that seeps through to the inside of the car...like wise if you have the whole screen on the outside that soaks up the water as well...

I had one of those thin nylon ice covers that go over the windscreen and are secured by the end flaps being locked in place with the door, only I found the door pockets were filling up with water when it rained or snowed, the nylon soaked up water and let it seep through into the car, I now only use it during the summer on the back windscreen, locked in place with the doors...

I use one of the silver ones designed to act as a frost guard on the outside of the windscreen, with two flaps that tuck inside the front doors, costs under £5 from Aldi or Lidil about 3 years ago and it's brilliant
